In Virginia, 1 out of every 8 people are struggling with hunger. The Campus Kitchen at Virginia Tech is working hard to end hunger in the areas surrounding Virginia Tech as well as in the New River Valley. Unused, safe, good quality food from the dining halls is carefully kept, prepared and transported by student volunteers to local places and people in need. Perry Martin, Senior Associate Director for community learning with VT Engage, is the facility advisor for the Virginia Tech Campus Kitchen. He is excited about the future of this organization and the possibilities that just opened up with a generous donation from The Smithfield Foundation. With more money and more opportunities, the organization will be able to perform more efficiently in helping provide hunger relief to the area.

Q&A with Brady Hess
Brady Hess, a junior multimedia journalism student at Virginia Tech, has already had quite a bit of experience working with broadcasting. He has his goals set high to become a sports broadcaster one day and he is working hard to reach them.
About Me
I am a junior at Virginia Tech, majoring in multimedia journalism. I came into this major with my mind set on sports broadcasting, but after taking various classes I have become more openminded. I am interested in many aspects of the media now including production, videography, photography, writing, and design. I am excited to see where my degree will take me.
Being involved on campus is really important to me. I am a member of Chi Omega Fraternity. I am a member of the VTTV (Virginia Tech Television) sports department, where I am a videographer/reporter. I am a member of Students Helping Honduras, which helps build schools in Honduras. I also am a free lance worker for HokieVision during ACC Network broadcasts.
